This course consists of 4 x 25K (15.5 mile) loops on the amazing trails at ACE Adventure Resort & dropping into New River Gorge National Park. The route incorporates the two main creeks in the area, Rush Run & Arbuckle. Run next to a multitude of waterfalls, along the banks of the New River, and test your rock-hopping skills at the picturesque Arbuckle Creek crossing.

Ugly Sweater Fun Run/Walk

The Ugly Sweater Fun Run/Walk is a family friendly way to get active enjoying the Winter Wonderland light display at Fayette County Park.
This is not a race! You can go at your own pace and make as many running or walking laps around the light display as you like (5 laps equals a 5K distance). This is stroller friendly and ages 12 and under get in free. No pets allowed, except service animals.
This is a fundraiser for Active SWV and the Fayette County Park. The event is $10 per person (cash or check), but ages 12 and under are free. No reservations needed.
Wear your ugly sweaters and Deck your strollers (or sleighs)! Get in character and secret judges will be checking out all the outfits and strollers. Awards will be presented and the opportunity for photos.
Active SWV will be hosting a winter coat, hat, and glove drive for local families in need in partnership with Warm Hands, Warm Hearts in Oak Hill. A drop box will be provided at registration in the Dining Hall.

Witches Paddle

Gather with us for a Witches and Warlocks Stand Up Paddle on the New River. We will be meeting at the upper Fayette Station Parking lot. Attendees need to sign a waiver in advance, must know how to swim, and wear PFD’s . This event is not designed for first time paddlers. Paddlers must be confident in maneuvering boards. We will launch at the upper beach at Fayette Station wearing PFDs paddling approximately 500 yards up stream on the flat water back to the beach. This is a leisure paddle but keep in mind that the current of the river can be challenging for beginners.

100 miles of wild & wonderful through the heart of New River Gorge National Park, the Rim to River 100 is the first & only 100 mile trail race in West Virginia. This out and back course consists of winding single track & rail-to-trail, traversing multiple times from the rim of the Gorge to down along the banks of the New River. Along with the natural beauty of waterfalls, whitewater, & dramatic views, you’ll also find ghost towns, centuries old cemeteries, & abandoned mine shafts throughout the course. Upper Gauley Animal Race

This year we will celebrate the 31st year of The Upper Gauley Animal Race, gathering again to compete in multiple crafts along a 9.8 mile stretch of class IV/IV+ whitewater. The race begins at the lower put in of Summersville Dam with a chaotic mass start of all racers who will fight their way down to the finish line at the upstream face of Postage Due Rock in Sweets Falls Rapid. Paddlers will need physical endurance, and solid boating skills to prevent trouble on this long powerful river. Bracing, stamina, precise maneuvering and big water experience are all required to have a successful safe run in the competition. Mark your calendars, and get training for the 31st race down the Beast of the East.

American Whitewater's Biggest Public Outreach Event is on the schedule for 2024! All proceeds from the festival support American Whitewater's river conservation and access work throughout the nation. Started in 1983 to celebrate the derailment of a hydro-electric project that would have disrupted the flows on the Gauley River, Gauley Fest has grown to become the largest paddling festival in the world. The festival is a showcase for American Whitewater and the top whitewater vendors in the boating community. The festival will feature live entertainment, a whitewater marketplace, raffle, and a silent auction where you can pick up some awesome outdoor gear. Come out and join us for a weekend of great paddling, exciting camaraderie, live entertainment, killer boat raffles, and the infamous silent auction.

Rally to the New River Gorge and join the American Alpine Club and Tenaya for the biggest and baddest climbing celebration and throw-down in the Southeast! This 3-day grassroots climbing festival celebrates all things climbing: community, education, and stewardship. The weekend features climbing clinics taught by professional athletes and certified climbing instructors, workshops, a Climb United x Queer Climbing Ohio Meet-up, and a stewardship project hosted in partnership with The New River Alliance of Climbers. Of course, it wouldn’t be the epic celebration that it is today without our Vendor Village, local craft beer, gear demos, games, raffles, and a dance party in the woods that you’ll be talking about for years to come!

Youth Pump Track Competition

Kids up to 15 years old are eligible to participate!
Categories are kids under 6, ages 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15.
There will be a timed race for each category as well as a free style round.
Participants will be given time to practice on the track before the competition.
$10 entrance fee (but if you are unable to pay please let us know and we can work with you).

Waivers must be signed online or in person at the event before participating.
Prizes will be awarded to the 1st place winners of each category.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their own bike (or other equipment) and a helmet. Helmets must be worn during the competition. If any child wants to participate but is unable because they are lacking equipment, please indicate that in the online registration and we may be able to work with you.

Color Dash for Hope 5k Run

Get colorful for a great cause this August and support Hope in the Hills in their fight to end Opiate addiction. This 5K timed run will get you covered from head to toe in all the colors of the rainbow. Along the course racers are doused from head to toe in a different colored powder. Participants wear white at the starting line and finish the race plastered in color. Prizes will be awarded for top finishers and all racers will get a goodie bag including your official white Color Dash for Hope t-shirt. Stick around after the run for a free burrito buffet for all participants. Plus waterpark fun and live music at The Lost Paddle that evening.
