Fayetteville Skate Park Tour

By: 0 Comments

The new Fayetteville skate park has got people talking.  And it is all good!  Not that we claim to know much about skating here at Water Stone, but we’ve been listening to the folks who have been flocking to town to sample our gem of a park, and they are loving it. Small in size but big in thrills, this all-concrete park features three challenging bowls and a variety of street elements as well.  Join ex-Water Stone employee Bill Chouinard, Sarah Chouinard and their boys as they trace the history of this great addition to the New River Gorge scene.

Four years ago Bill and Sarah decided they needed to take matters into their own hands if they wanted a place for their kids to skate.  They kicked their fundraising machine into over drive and raised over
$200,000 so that they could hire one of the premier skate park design companies in the country, Grindline, to design and build the park.  In this video, Bill, Big Cheese in the local skate scene, will talk you through the specifics about what you’ll find at the park.  Then, all you need to do is remember to throw your skateboard, pads and helmet into the car when you are heading here and you can get a few hours in after your climbing day.

The Skate Park is located in the Fayetteville Town Park.  Ask anyone you see on the street to direct you there.

You can snag the elusive three-sport day if you also remember to bring your mountain bike or running shoes–a great trail network leaves right from the Town Park.
