Patagonia Worn Wear Tour is Coming!

If It's Broke, Fix It!

The Patagonia Worn Wear Tour is rolling into Fayetteville and setting up shop in the Water Stone Outdoors parking lot on Thursday, May 7th. Think of it as a travelling repair facility with expert technicians at the ready to either fix your stuff or teach you how to fix your own stuff. In fact, the tour is all about stuff–specifically the folks at Patagonia want you to redefine your relationship with stuff. In their own words:

One of the most responsible things we can do as a company is make high quality stuff that lasts for years and can be repaired. The Worn Wear Tour celebrates the stories we wear and keeps your gear in action to take some of the pressure off the planet.”

Hear, Hear! Here at Water Stone we agree: let’s take some pressure off the planet. We encourage our customers to buy thoughtfully, buy better, buy less. Now, with Patagonia’s help we can become better fixers. We believe that our community is doing a damn good job with this concept–lots of worn wear on the streets,  at the crag and in the river! Battered, beat up and loved. Let’s get together and celebrate this while we extend the life of our favorite stuff. We offer Patagonia a heartfelt thank you for all that they do to take pressure off the planet. We are thrilled to be one of 18 stops on this six week tour.

We have built a little event around the arrival of the Worn Wear team with opportunities to win cool more stuff (irony alert).

Here’s the drill:

Worn Wear Repairs: 10-5, rips, tears, zippers, buttons… If its broke, fix it! Also they will be selling used Patagonia gear so expect some good bargains. They will also be setting up a station where an expert repair technician will teach you how to repair your own stuff.

American Alpine Club Breakfast: 8:30-10:30, $5 donation. eggs, bacon and pancakes. Campground host Paul Nelson and crew are pros.

Free pour overs by Josh and Nate, the coffee snobs, from 8:30-10:30. They will be serving Counter Culture Coffee out of Durhan, NC. We will also be serving hometown favorite Mattie’s Mountain Mud. Gotta love the bottomless free cup o joe…

Patagonia Jackets

Step onto the Virtual Soapbox and win a Patagonia jacket. All you have to do is respond to the message of the Tour in your own way. We will video it and your name will be entered into the raffle for the jacket. So, think about it and testify! Head off in any direction you like, it’s your soapbox.

Rope Rug

Craig Spaulding will be on hand 9-5 demonstrating how to weave old ropes into rugs. He is the mind behind the G String Climbing grip–a super effective training tool. Check it out here. He will be conducting a dead hang contest.  Come by at any time and see what you’ve got. Winner gets a comprehensive Waterstonia package.

Blue Ridge Outdoors will be in town represented by the peripatetic dynamo Jess Daddio. Jess is charged with Bringing the Sac Back, so dust off your rusty hacky-sack skills and let’s kick some. Old School! Old’s Cool.

HAPPY HOUR at the AAC Campground at 5. We will tap a keg of Bridge Brew Works latest concoction and fire up a delicious house mix with DJ Nathan Patrick. As our newest local DJ, Nathan is ready to show us what he’s got. We will draw for the raffle winners and relax. Blue Ridge Outdoors is sponsoring a slack line contest so get your balance on track.

Drop by, fix your stuff, hang out, hang on, step on the soapbox, and have fun!
